Role Overview<!--TgQPHd|[]-->
We are seeking a dedicated and clinically skilled Board-Certified or Board-Eligible (BC/BE) Internal Medicine or Family Medicine physician to join our hospitalist team as a Nocturnist. In this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality inpatient care during overnight shifts, managing admissions from the Emergency Department, and providing cross-coverage for existing inpatients. You will serve as the primary point of clinical decision-making during nighttime hours, ensuring patient safety and continuity of care.<!--TgQPHd|[]-->
Key Responsibilities<!--TgQPHd|[]--><!--TgQPHd|[]-->
- Admissions & Evaluations<!--TgQPHd|[]-->: Conduct comprehensive history and physical examinations for new admissions arriving through the Emergency Department or via direct transfer.<!--TgQPHd|[]--><!--TgQPHd|[]-->
- Acute Care Management<!--TgQPHd|[]-->: Provide immediate assessment and intervention for acute clinical changes in the inpatient population (cross-coverage).<!--TgQPHd|[]--><!--TgQPHd|[]-->
- Collaborative Handoffs<!--TgQPHd|[]-->: Ensure seamless transitions of care through detailed verbal and written sign-outs to the daytime hospitalist team.<!--TgQPHd|[]--><!--TgQPHd|[]-->
- Multidisciplinary Coordination<!--TgQPHd|[]-->: Collaborate with nursing staff, respiratory therapists, and on-call specialists to manage complex cases and urgent medical needs.<!--TgQPHd|[]--><!--TgQPHd|[]-->
- Procedure Performance<!--TgQPHd|[]-->: (If applicable to facility) Perform necessary nighttime procedures, such as intubations, central line placements, or paracentesis, or coordinate with the ICU team for advanced support.<!--TgQPHd|[]--><!--TgQPHd|[]-->
- Documentation<!--TgQPHd|[]-->: Complete all admission notes, progress notes, and discharge summaries accurately within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.<!--TgQPHd|[]--><!--TgQPHd|[]-->
Minimum Qualifications<!--TgQPHd|[]--><!--TgQPHd|[]-->
- Education<!--TgQPHd|[]-->: Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.<!--TgQPHd|[]--><!--TgQPHd|[]-->
- Training<!--TgQPHd|[]-->: Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.<!--TgQPHd|[]--><!--TgQPHd|[]-->
- Licensure<!--TgQPHd|[]-->: Must hold or be eligible for an unrestricted State Medical License and active DEA registration.<!--TgQPHd|[]--><!--TgQPHd|[]-->
- Certification<!--TgQPHd|[]-->: Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) by the ABIM or ABFM.<!--TgQPHd|[]--><!--TgQPHd|[]-->
Preferred Skills<!--TgQPHd|[]--><!--TgQPHd|[]-->
- Prior experience in a high-acuity hospitalist or nocturnist role.<!--TgQPHd|[]--><!--TgQPHd|[]-->
- Strong competency in bedside ultrasound and acute procedural skills.<!--TgQPHd|[]--><!--TgQPHd|[]-->
- Ability to work independently and make critical clinical decisions in a fast-paced environment.<!--TgQPHd|[]--><!--TgQPHd|[]-->
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with nocturnal staff and anxious families.
